Numbers so big, they're hard to grasp,
The scale of their size, we can barely clasp.
From thousands to millions, to billions and more,
The magnitude boggles the mind, like never before.

A thousand photos, one by one,
Just over 16 minutes, they'd all be done.
Ten thousand faces, one by one,
That's over 2 and a half hours, all said and done.

Big numbers, big numbers, so hard to comprehend.
A million, ten million, a billion round the bend.
The scale is so vast, it's hard to understand,
The sheer size of these numbers, so immense and so grand.

A hundred thousand, that's a sight to behold,
Over a day and a half, the story's been told.
A million faces, all looked at one by one,
That's 11 and a half days, the viewing's been done.

Big numbers, big numbers, so hard to comprehend.
A million, ten million, a billion round the bend
The scale is so vast, it's hard to understand,
The sheer size of these numbers, so immense and so grand.

Ten million people, that's a lot to see,
Over a year and a quarter, the viewing would be.
A hundred million, almost more than believed,
That's over 11 and a half years, the time it would need.

Big numbers, big numbers, so hard to comprehend.
A million, ten million, a billion round the bend.
The scale is so vast, it's hard to understand,
The sheer size of these numbers, so immense and so grand.

A billion faces, one by one,
Over 31 and a half years, the viewing's been done.
The scale of these numbers is truly profound,
Comprehending their size, our minds can't quite sound.

Big numbers, big numbers, so hard to comprehend.
A million, ten million, a billion round the bend.
The scale is so vast, it's hard to understand,
The sheer size of these numbers, so immense and so grand.

Over 8 billion people in the world today,
To see them all one by one, it would take over 250 years, so they say.
The magnitude of these numbers is truly profound,
Comprehending their scale, our minds can't quite sound.

Big numbers, big numbers, so hard to comprehend.
A million, ten million, a billion round the bend.
The scale is so vast, it's hard to understand,
The sheer size of these numbers, so immense and so grand.
The sheer size of these numbers, so immense and so grand.

R.I.C.'s Face Time

"Face Time" is a thought-provoking exploration of the human struggle to comprehend vast numerical scales, particularly in relation to the world's population. The song ingeniously uses the concept of viewing faces one by one as a metaphor for grasping the enormity of large numbers, creating a visceral connection between abstract figures and tangible human experiences.

The lyrics begin by acknowledging the difficulty in comprehending large numbers, setting the stage for the numerical journey that follows. As the song progresses, it presents increasingly larger numbers, starting from thousands and moving up to billions, each time providing a relatable time frame for viewing that many faces individually. This clever device serves to make the abstract concrete, allowing listeners to better grasp the scale of these figures.

The recurring chorus emphasizes the central theme: "Big numbers, big numbers, so hard to comprehend." This repetition reinforces the overwhelming nature of these large scales and our cognitive limitations in fully understanding them. The lyrics "The scale is so vast, it's hard to understand, The sheer size of these numbers, so immense and so grand" further underscore this sentiment, inviting listeners to reflect on their own perceptions of numerical magnitude.

As the song builds towards its climax, it introduces truly staggering figures. The concept of viewing a billion faces taking over 31 and a half years is particularly impactful, offering a stark illustration of just how immense this number is. The final verses bring the theme home by referencing the current world population of over 8 billion, stating it would take more than 250 years to view each face individually. This culmination drives home the song's message about the unfathomable scale of humanity.

Throughout the piece, the use of "face time" serves as a poignant metaphor. It not only provides a relatable way to conceptualize large numbers but also humanizes these statistics. Each number represents a unique individual, reminding us of the vast diversity and shared humanity within these enormous figures. This approach transforms what could be cold, impersonal statistics into a reflection on the vast tapestry of human life.

The song's structure, with its building numerical progression and repeated chorus, mirrors the overwhelming nature of trying to grasp these concepts. Just as the numbers become increasingly difficult to comprehend, the repetition in the song creates a sense of the mind struggling to keep up, effectively mimicking the cognitive challenge presented by such large scales.

"Face Time" invites listeners to contemplate their place within the vast sea of humanity. It challenges us to think beyond our immediate circles and consider the sheer scale of human existence. In doing so, it touches on themes of interconnectedness, the value of individual human life, and the humbling reality of our relative smallness in the grand scheme of things.

Ultimately, this song serves as a meditation on the limits of human comprehension and the awe-inspiring scale of our global population. It encourages us to stretch our minds, to attempt to grasp the ungraspable, and in doing so, perhaps gain a new perspective on our world and our place within it.
