His life they'd take, their hearts had turned.
Two conspired when he returned,
Then drank the wine, by poison led.
Their souls to Hell, forever snatched.
In greed's cruel grasp, their fate was clutched,
"We are rich!" they cried, "This wealth we own."
The wages of sin are cold and frost.
We'll conquer thee, we'll turn the tide."
Three young men of sinful pride,
Said he, "Find Death where shadows lie."
Gold so bright it shone like dome,
"Death, oh Death, where dost thou hide?
We seek thee out, we shall not bide.
Plans to claim all gold as mine,

With gold and ale their hearts confide.
In shadows deep where souls are tossed,
The one returned with poisoned wine,
Greed and envy filled their head,
They drank and died, the gold untouched,
"Why do you live when all must die?"
Found a treasure, bright as foam,
Greed and pride, all lives are lost,
The two did strike, their friend lay dead,
To an ancient oak they roam,
So heed this tale of folly's cost,
To the tavern they did ride,
An old man they did espy,
For Death had come, by greed dispatched,
With a curse and a pledge, by dawn's early tide,
