Welcome to Wonderland

by Richard

In my hand, a world unfolds, a million stories untold
Pixels dance at my command, as reality and dreams meld
I've heard tales of simpler days, when choices were so few
But in this sea of endless ways, I'll show you something new

Grandma clicks her neural link, a sigh escapes her lips
Tells of analogue days now past, of TV's fuzzy static blips
"We had schedules carved in stone, commercials we couldn't skip
One screen to gather 'round," she says, "a shared viewing trip"

Welcome to Wonderland, where dreams come alive
AI and human minds, creatively thrive
Infinite worlds to explore, uniquely designed
The future of fun, redefined

Dad recalls the streaming wars, apps for every show
"We thought we had it all," he laughs, "if only we could know"
He speaks of binge-watching nights, when AI picks went astray
"But now your thoughts control the plot?" he gasps in sheer dismay

I dive into my mindscape, where AI paints the scene
A story crafted just for me, on my neuronal screen
My mood shapes every twist and turn, each character's desire
With thought-controlled intensity, emotions burning higher

But sometimes I wonder, in this tailored paradise
If we've lost the common ground, a cultural sacrifice
When every experience is unique, no water cooler talk
Have we gained a universe, but lost our shared walk?

Holographic actors spring, from AI's vast mind
Indistinguishable from the real, their performances refined
I script my own adventure, or let AI take the lead
In this collaborative dance, created at speed

From tactile VR to scent-infused scenes
We've pushed past the limits of our wildest dreams
Yet in this sea of endless choice, we sometimes feel adrift
Seeking balance in the wonder, as dimensions shift

In this new Wonderland, where all dreams come alive
AI and human spirits, together we strive
To find meaning in the chaos, connections intertwined
The future of entertainment, forever redefined

The Soul's Parting

by Dorothy Greenwell

She sat within Life's Banquet Hall at noon,
When word was brought unto her secretly:
"The Master cometh onwards quickly; soon
Across the Threshold He will call for thee."
Then she rose up to meet Him at the Door,
But turning, courteous, made a farewell brief
To those that sat around. From Care and Grief
She parted first: "Companions sworn and true
Have ye been ever to me, but for Friends
I knew ye not till later, and did miss
Much solace through that error; let this kiss,
Late known and prized, be taken for amends.
Thou, too, kind, constant Patience, with thy slow,
Sweet counsels aiding me, I did not know
That ye were angels, until ye displayed
Your wings for flight; now bless me!" but they said,
"We blest thee long ago."

Then turning unto twain
That stood together, tenderly and oft
She kissed them on their foreheads, whispering soft:
"Now must we part; yet leave me not before
Ye see me enter safe within the Door;
Kind bosom-comforters, that by my side
The darkest hour found ever closest bide,
A dark hour waits me, ere for evermore
Night with its heaviness be overpast;
Stay with me till I cross the Threshold o'er."
So Faith and Hope stayed by her till the last.

But giving both her hands
To one that stood the nearest: "Thou and I
May pass together; for the holy bands
God knits on earth are never loosed on high.
Long have I walked with Thee; thy name arose
E'en in my sleep, and sweeter than the close
Of music was thy voice; for thou wert sent
To lead me homewards from my banishment
By devious ways, and never hath my heart
Swerved from Thee, though our hands were wrung apart
By spirits sworn to sever us; above
Soon shall I look upon Thee as Thou art."
So she cross'd o'er with Love.
