Invitation only
Not-Dead, At-Least-For-Now Poets
Almost everyone else on V2Melody is dead. This is excellent for the catalogue and rather poor for conversation. One can set a poem, tidy a biography, and still receive no reply whatsoever. It seemed only polite, after a while, to look for a few poets who have not yet crossed to the eternal hereafter and might still answer a letter.
This is a small salon of living amateurs whose poems I have been given permission to set to music. It sits beside the classic catalogue, not inside it. There is no public submissions pile, no payment, and no attempt to manufacture a hit. V2Melody is non-profit. The recording stays here; poets are welcome to share the page.
If you arrived without an invitation, you can listen to whoever is already on the wall. If you have a token, a highlighted invitation appears at the top of this page. Poets with a V2Melody username may ask for an invitation here, with a link to published work. Inclusion is decided by a written literary assessment. That decision is final: there is no bargaining and no correspondence about it. The assessment appears on a private page for the poet, one letter for each poem.
On living poets and AI
Music on V2Melody is made with new tools. The poems of living writers are not. They are written by hand, and a reasonable fear is that a page like this will make readers assume otherwise. That is why this salon is invitation-only, why no one is pressed to join it, and why a poet may share work in conversation without ever appearing on the wall.
On the wall
Each portrait opens that poet’s page. Only poems already set to music appear there.
