Each poem scrolls on its own, so the two texts stay beside each other.

Tanka II

by Sadakichi Hartmann

Ah, were the white waves
Far on the shimmering sea,
That the moon shine laves,
Dream flowers drifting to me —
I would cull them, love, for thee.

It dropped so low

by Emily Dickinson

It dropped so low—in my regard—
I heard it hit the ground—
And go to pieces on the stones
At bottom of my mind—

Yet blamed the fate that fractured—less
Than I reviled myself.
For entertaining plated wares
Upon my silver shelf.
