My dove, my beautiful one

by James Joyce

My dove, my beautiful one,
Arise, arise!
The night-dew lies
Upon my lips and eyes.

The odorous winds are weaving
A music of sighs:
Arise, arise,
My dove, my beautiful one!

I wait by the cedar tree,
My sister, my love,
White breast of the dove,
My breast shall be your bed.

The pale dew lies
Like a veil on my head.
My fair one, my fair dove,
Arise, arise!

Sevillanas

by Manuel Machado

La seguiriya gitana
es la copla de la noche
musulmana…
Ojos negros, perdición.
El Poema siempre vivo
del Amor y de la Muerte.
Voz del corazón, cautivo
de la pena y de la suerte…
Hondo treno de pasión.

Pero la copla de luz
del paraíso andaluz,
alada y primaveral;
la graciosa charlatana
que dice toda Sevilla,
es la alegre seguidilla
sevillana,
llena de sol y de sal.
