Salat is the second pillar of Islam—a direct link between believer and Allah, requiring purity, focus, and submission. Salat is the ritual prayer performed by Muslims five times a day at prescribed times. It is the second of the Five Pillars of Islam. Each Salat consists of a sequence of cycles (rak'ahs) involving recitations from the Quran while standing, bowing (ruku), prostrating (sujud), and sitting. It is a direct link between the worshipper and God, requiring physical and mental purity (achieved through Wudu, ablution).
