This number is read from the build of the lines. The bright edge is that number, carried outward until the pattern repeats.

The Song

by Humbert Wolfe

If that is a sword, break it!
If that is hatred, go!
Here is life as we would make it,
where none can say us "No."

You have brought silver, crude as
the first who sold his Lord.
Throw down the pieces, Judas,
as idle as the sword!

You nothing knew? Make fast your
soul to what no one knows!
Here is the upland pasture,
green at the edge of the snows.

No guide to lead, or only
the peak that none has trod.
Who goes with us, goes lonely
between his soul and God.

We have found peace, not your peace
but the eagles' peace as they hover,
a terrible bright, unsure peace,
of the lover that has no lover.

Go back and say you have seen us
with no shadow before or behind,
save the shadow of your God between us
and the God that we go to find.

Yr Afon

by Watcyn Wyn

Yn ei gwely—byth yn cysgu,
Ar ei gyrfa—byth yn gorphwys:
Yn y ffynon—byth yn tarddu,
Yn yr aber—byth yn arllwys:
Gloewi ei drych,
A chânu 'n llon,
O grych i grych,
O dòn i dòn:

Rhwng y ceryg, dros y gro,
Byth yn troi 'n ol yn y tro:
Wedi dysgu ei thònau gwan,
I beidio aros yn un man:
Casglu nerth pwy bella teithia,
Penderfyniad yn y troion;
A diwydrwydd, a glanweithdra,
Yn ei thònau 'n wersi gloewon.
