Price is the stated monetary exchange required to buy something in a market. Poetry often tests its apparent clarity against things that cannot be adequately priced, including health, freedom, love, land, and mourning. A price tag may expose class difference, while a bargain may conceal exploitation. The term can also sharpen a poem's ethical question: who pays, who profits, and what remains uncounted after the sale is complete?
