Thomas Aquinas, a Dominican friar at the University of Paris, wrote the Summa Theologica, a comprehensive synthesis of Christian theology that integrated Aristotelian philosophy with biblical revelation. His work became the standard textbook of Catholic theology and shaped the intellectual framework of Western Christianity for centuries. Aquinas also composed beautiful hymns for the feast of Corpus Christi.

Aquinas's hymns, including 'Pange Lingua' and 'Tantum Ergo,' are masterpieces of Latin devotional poetry that have been translated into English by poets from John Dryden to Gerard Manley Hopkins. His theological synthesis influenced the poetic vision of Dante, whose Divine Comedy reflects the Thomistic integration of reason and faith.
