What happened
In 1937, Jones was included in the Works Progress Administration publication An Anthology of Negro Poetry by Negroes and Others, associated with New Jersey adult education work. The anthology preserved poems by Black writers and others. It kept Jones in circulation decades after his early books.

The WPA anthology shows that Jones's poetry still had educational and cultural value in the late 1930s. Its inclusion helped preserve his work as part of a broader documentary effort to record African American literary expression.
