What happened
During the summer of 1816, Byron, based at the Villa Diodati in Cologny on Lake Geneva, Switzerland, met and formed a close friendship with the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, who was traveling with Mary Godwin (later Mary Shelley) and Claire Clairmont.
Literary impact
