What happened
Methuen published A. A. Milne's second children's poetry collection, 'Now We Are Six,' in London on October 11, 1927, again illustrated by E. H. Shepard. The volume continued the world of Christopher Robin and his companions, extending the playful verse universe Milne had established in 'When We Were Very Young.' It was another major commercial success on both sides of the Atlantic.
Literary impact
The collection confirmed Milne's mastery of children's comic verse and deepened the emotional register of the Pooh world, allowing for slightly more wistful and philosophical notes alongside the playfulness. Together with its predecessor it forms the core of Milne's poetic legacy and remains in continuous print nearly a century later.
