Słowacki begins government work in Warsaw

What happened
After leaving Vilnius, Słowacki began working in Warsaw in 1829. He joined the Government Commission of Revenue and Treasury, entering official employment rather than pursuing literature alone. The move brought him into the political and administrative life of the Polish capital.
Literary impact
Government employment gave Słowacki direct experience of Warsaw and its public life. His subsequent literary career was increasingly intertwined with the political and national concerns of nineteenth-century Poland.
