What happened
In Boston, Massachusetts, Sherman, French and Company published The Sylvan Cabin: A Centenary Ode on the Birth of Lincoln, and Other Verse. The volume included an introduction by William Stanley Braithwaite. Jones dedicated it to Judge Arthur P. Stone.
Literary impact
The book connected Jones to Lincoln memory, abolitionist ideals, and African American claims on national freedom. Braithwaite's introduction also gave Jones a bridge into wider literary recognition beyond self-publication.
