Publication of Children of Love
Poet involved
What happened
The Poetry Bookshop in Devonshire Street, Bloomsbury, issued Monro's Children of Love in 1915, with an earlier Bookshop issue dated 1914 also recorded. The wartime London volume contains some of the anthology pieces by which he is still known. It appeared while he was already becoming a publisher of other poets as well as of himself.
Literary impact
Children of Love fixed Monro's public image as a poet of tender, slightly uncanny domestic and sacred scenes. The book's reception, and its Bookshop imprint, bound his own lyric reputation to the Georgian lists he was helping to circulate.
